Even when things don’t work they still reach us
~ Alan
My old clock
There’s my dear old clock
Standing in the hall.
Though I’ve never heard it chime,
Or seen it tell the time,
It’s my favourite clock of all.
People ask me what it’s got
That other clocks do not,
And are amazed when I reply
“It’s the only clock I’ve got
On which I totally rely.”
My dear old clock is never fast,
Nor is it ever slow.
It stopped at ten to seven
Many a long year ago,
And whatever upset its innards,
I’m afraid I’ll never know.
But I know when it’s ten to seven
Every night and every day.
Yes I know when it’s ten to seven,
Whatever the other clocks say.
